MediaCore Overview
MediaCore is a powerful web-based repository for the secure acquisition, storage, indexing, retrieval, syndication, distribution and sale of digital assets. It is built on a distributed scalable Digital Asset Management architecture that can store millions of assets centrally and securely. Digital assets can be many forms of rich media such as images, PDFs, movie or audio files.
MediaCore is analogous to a distributed database, but specifically designed to manage large rich media objects instead of just data. It provides essential media-specific functionality such as repurposing, indexing and categorisation. MediaCore is modular and highly configurable and can be quickly customised for specific business scenarios. The diagram below provides an overview of the key functional components of MediaCore:
The core functions of MediaCore are as follows:
- Archiving and Storage
- MediaCore has a powerful centralised Archiving and Storage core that stores unlimited media objects and their associated metadata. At its heart is a powerful search engine that enables users (staff, clients and the public) to locate assets quickly and accurately. A flexible transformation module automates the repurposing of media files into new formats, sizes, resolutions, etc. or other operations, such as compositing one media item onto another.
- Workflow
- MediaCore has a flexible event-based Workflow module that allows you to significantly improve the workflow from events and engage clients or internal staff immediately through an online Contact Sheet. Designated users can review and order images from events instantly and also access their entire job history.
- Distribution Licensing & Sales
- MediaCore’s comprehensive Asset Distribution, Licensing & Sales module is driven by a dedicated eCommerce engine optimised for the sale of media objects with end-to-end order fulfilment, complete eCommerce administration and comprehensive financial reporting. Images can be sold as prints or the digital file can be licensed as Rights Managed or Royalty Free. Registered account holders can download the asset to specific destinations. The system records all such transfers.
- Access Control
- MediaCore’s Access Control allows the management of user groups (Customer Views) who can access a collection of digital assets (through unique user logins) that are exclusive to that user group. Each user group can have its own unique look and feel. Product options and metadata set can be customised for each Customer View
